Coronavirus Information & Advice

Most of our resorts in Europe have now closed after their summer seasons. Some resorts in Europe and beyond remain open with most facilities, including pools, restaurants and kids clubs operating under enhanced safety procedures.

All overseas travel from UK nations for holiday and non-essential purposes is currently not permitted by law. The latest travel advice from the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is as follows (reviewed 22 Feb 2021):

*Where FCDO advice supports holiday travel at national level for the destination country, there may still be localised restrictions.

We’ve now made arrangements with all our 2020 customers and have fresh availability for 2021 – with lowest prices, £95 deposit and free cancellation at most resorts. Airlines are adding more flights but are still operating on limited schedules, so do check whether flights are available for your destination or consider some of our fantastic resorts to drive to.

Overseas Holidays and the Lockdown Easing Roadmap: Despite the positive steps for England announced by the UK government on 22 February 2021, the situation for overseas travel and holidays remains unclear. We are optimistic holidays will be able to go ahead in summer, but the announcement made clear non-essential overseas travel will not be permitted before 17 May and guidance beyond that will be provided by a travel review which is due to be presented on 12 April. Until the review gives further details, we expect all holidays after 17 May will be able to go ahead.

Firefly Holidays during the Coronavirus period: To ensure everyone’s safety, our team are all now working from their homes between 9am and 6pm daily. We have remained available every day by phone, email and chat, continuing to provide the same high standards of service to all our customers. Feel free to get in touch about anything at all but please bear with us if it takes a little longer for us to respond, or for any interruptions from children or animals in the background!

We are therefore pleased to announce that, at no extra cost to you, and in accordance with ”The Package Travel, Package Tours Regulations ” all passengers booking with Firefly Holidays (UK) Limited are fully insured for the initial deposit, and subsequently the balance of monies paid as detailed in your booking confirmation form. The policy will also include repatriation if required, arising from the cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of Firefly Holidays (UK) Limited.

This insurance has been arranged by Atlas Voyage Secure (AVS), a trading brand of All Seasons Underwriting Agencies Limited (ASUS) of Alpi House, Suite 2, East Wing, 2nd Floor, Miles Gray Road, Basildon, Essex, SS14 3HJ. All Seasons Underwriting Agencies Limited (Company number 03252689) are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority reference no: 308488 and arranges this policy on behalf of Syndicate 033 at Lloyd’s managed by Hiscox Syndicates Limited, 1 Great St Helen’s, London EC3A 6HX.  The policy number is HIS/FII/2019 0012. Please ensure you retain your booking confirmation invoice as evidence of cover and value. Please note that if payment for your holiday was made by credit or debit card you must contact the Claims team on the contact above in the first instance for instructions.

This policy will not cover any monies paid back to you by your Travel Insurance or any losses which are recoverable under another insurance or bond (with the exception of Credit and Debit card).

Essential Travel Info – And Brexit Advice


British citizens are required to carry a full 10 year British passport when visiting the EU, or other countries in Europe or beyond. Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your holiday, and preferably at least 6 months beyond. All infants and children must also have their own passport. If any members of your party need to renew or obtain a passport, we recommend you apply at least 2 months before your holiday. See or call the UK Passport Office on 0300 222 0000 for advice and information. Citizens of other countries should check with the relevant authorities for passport and visa requirements.

Health Cards

In addition to taking out travel insurance for all members of your party we strongly recommend that you obtain an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), which will provide access to public healthcare systems in the EU and Switzerland. Apply on-line at or at your local Post Office (UK) or or your local Health Office (Ireland). Please check any current EHIC  cards as they are only valid for up to 5 years.

Brexit and Travel to Europe

Although the UK officially left the European Union on 31 January 2020, there will be no immediate changes to travel and holidays within Europe. During the transition period, covering the remainder of 2020, everything remains as before – apart from the UK reintroducing dark blue covered passports. However, there is still no information to indicate what changes to travel may occur when this period is due to finish, on 31 December 2020.
