Dalmatian Coast Gems - Cruise Itinerary

Explore the most amazing Dalmatian towns and islands, along with beautiful coastlines and coves only accessible to our small ships. A circular route from Split includes visits to Dubrovnik, Korcula, Mljet, Trstenik, Hvar and Bol, as well as time in Split itself.

Our professional crew will ensure your comfort as you relax on your sun-deck and swim in secluded crystal bays. Join our inclusive guided tours of the most famous calling points. Burn off some energy in the water, on beaches, walking, biking or canoeing. Mix high quality on board catering (all breakfasts, lunches and 1-3 dinners) with the freedom to discover fabulous restaurants and bars on shore.

All our small ships are modern and beautifully designed, fully air-conditioned vessels with individual en-suite cabins. Choose between Premium Superior (best for younger families) and Deluxe itineraries and ships.

Don’t forget to also take a look at our Adriatic Islands Explorer cruise – chill out in the unspoiled islands to the north.

Firefly Holidays Dalmatian Islands Cruises Route

Day 1 – Split to Makarska

After arriving in Split and transferring to the port, our Premium Superior cruises depart at 13:00, sailing south for the first overnight stop at Makarska.  Enjoy the first lunch served on board, as we cruise along the Dalmatian coast, followed by an afternoon swim stop in the clear waters. There’s the option of river-rafting or zip-wire excursions on the Cetina river, before arriving in Makarska to find an eating place for the first night along the wide promenade or in the town’s lovely main square.

Our Deluxe ships remain in Split for the first afternoon and overnight. Arrive by 14:00 to join our free guided tour of this UNESCO world heritage site – a city with exceptional Roman architecture, including Emperor Diocletian’s magnificent palace. Over centuries the grand architecture has organically evolved to incorporate medieval and renaissance additions. More recently it was used to accommodate Game of Thrones’ dragons! Later, after welcome drinks on board, you can get your first tastes of local cuisine in Split’s well-known restaurants and bars.

Day 2 – Mljet

Mljet is a picture-postcard Dalmatian island, with rolling hills covered in rich pine forests and the west of the island a protected National Park of coves, villages and crystal blue lakes just inland. Such a charming and natural place. We’ll enter the National Park, where you can walk by the the famous salt lakes and enjoy a boat ride to St Mary’s Isle to visit the ancient Benedictine monastery, abbey and 12th century church. It’s also the perfect place for families to hire bikes or canoes for a few hours to explore more of the lakes and National Park.

Deluxe ships will leave Mljet to reach Dubrovnik in the evening. Our Premium Superior ships will moor at Polaca or Pomena, perfect places for you to find a local dinner before sailing for Dubrovnik next morning.

Day 3 – Dubrovnik

A visit to Dubrovnik is a real highlight – the breathtaking setting of many epic stories, both real and from film and TV. A rich history as an independent city-state is displayed in the wealth of its buildings, streets and marble pavements. Dubrovnik is dominated by 2km of impressive fortified walls – the city’s protection over the centuries, as well as in its memorable role as King’s Landing in much of Game of Thrones.

Our free guided walking tours will introduce the highlights of this incredible place, with the cable car to Srđ mountain’s fantastic viewpoint included from Deluxe ships. After this, choose to soak up the atmosphere from a café on Stradun (the main avenue and square), wander the labyrinth of beautiful streets, or march around the imposing walls. If you’re missing the sea already, head for the city’s beach to the south, or take to the water with a local boat trip or hired canoes. During the day, be sure to scout a dinner location fit for a movie, at one of Dubrovnik’s fabulous restaurants.

Day 4 – Trstenik

A leisurely morning with breakfast and a lovely cruise up the coastlines of the Elafitski islands and the Pelješac peninsula. There are gorgeous spots for lunch and to sunbathe and enjoy an afternoon swim, before arriving at Trstenik, or sometimes the island of Sipan. This area is famous for its wine production and there’s usually opportunity to sample some, before enjoying an inclusive dinner, either on board ship or at a local village.

Day 5 – Korcula

After a relaxing morning, breakfast and lunch on board, we arrive at Korcula – one of the most well-known Dalmatian islands. It’s another beautiful island, spotted with beautiful bays and coves for basking and swimming in, and has Korcula town as its charming and historic centrepiece. Korcula claims to be the birthplace of famous explorer Marco Polo – although Venice claims that too. Seeing as you can visit the house Marco Polo grew up in here and Korcula belonged to Venice for hundreds of years anyway, I’d go with the island’s claim!

Our free walking tour will guide you through Korcula’s maze of streets and sights – fortified walls, churches, markets and museums. Then you can choose from the fabulous selection of seafront eateries to enjoy dinner, before spending the night moored in this picturesque port.

Day 6 – Hvar

After a morning of beautiful coastline, swim-stops and lunch, we’ll reach Hvar – the longest and (apparently) sunniest island in the Adriatic. It’s a lush and productive island, inhabited since the stone age, and well known for wines, olives and highly fragrant lavendar. Hvar Town itself has a stunning setting in a sheltered inlet, with its hill-top fort overlooking the beautiful cathedral tower and nearby Pakleni islands.

Our free walking tour will take a wandering route through the fabulous town, which will be our base for the night, our you can choose to explore by yourself or follow walking trails further out from the town. Hvar is the perfect setting for a relaxed and memorable evening meal, with plenty of bars, restaurants and entertainment to discover at the port and throughout the town.

Day 7 – Split (via Brac / Bol)

The island of Brac features the most famous, and most photographed, beach in Croatia. Zlatni Rat, or the Golden Horn beach, is a stunning spur sticking straight out into the Adriatic, and the perfect place for a spectacular swim stop! Nearby Bol is a charming fishing village, where you can get a last feel for island living.

Our Deluxe ships stay here for the afternoon and for a evening dinner on board, before returning to Split in time for flights the next morning. Our Premium Superior ships head for Split after lunch on Brac, to give plenty of time to explore Croatia’s largest coastal city, famous for Diocletian’s Palace (another GoT location), and a great place to find bistros, restaurants and bars before spending the final night on board, before heading home next morning.
